  1.  A brief introduction of the project.
  2. Getting to know each other:
    Write a Biopoem (worksheet 1) . After you finish, post it to the course blog under the topic My Biopoem. Together, we’ll read the poems in class.
  3. What’s in the newspapers?
    You will be given Worksheet 2 “What’s in the Newspapers?” Your task is to visit 5 websites and compare the categories in the news sites. Please finish the worksheet in class and hand it to the teacher.  The websites are:
    (1) CNN
    (2) BBC
    (3) Taipei Times
    (4) Taiwan News
    (5) Pearl World Youth News
  4.  Learn how to get to IEARN YOUTH FORUM. You can follow the Instructions here.
  5. Week 1 Assignment 1: Write the draft of your family story happening in the year you were born. Please go home and interview your family member. Ask them about something special that happened in your family in the year you were born. Then, download the draft sheet (Worksheet 3) and write a short story about it. Here are the sample strories written by the students that took part in the project previously. Please type your draf, print it out and bring it with you when we meet next time. Also prepare a digital copy for revision on the computer.
  6. Week 1 Assignment 2: Preview the reading assignment (How to be a good reporter?) and bring it to the the next class meeting.
